The mission of NUS Buddhist Society is to spread the joy of Buddha-Dharma to the NUS community.

Brief History

NUS Buddhist Society was first started in 1961 when the National University Of Singapore was still University of Malaya. We invite speakers from various traditions and schools of thought to ensure that interested learners are able to learn from teachers who have ample knowledge in the relevant topic.


1. To propagate the teachings of the Buddha, to foster and develop the qualities of Sila (morality), Samadhi (concentration) and Panna (wisdom) in accordance with the virtues of the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha.
2. To forster friendship and understanding among members of the different traditions of Buddhism.
3. To promote harmony and understanding among other racial and religious groups.
